At the beginning of another year you may have some New Year’s resolutions that you’ve been considering. You may be looking at revamping your health and fitness routine or taking up a new sport or hobby. We have some tips that will help you to stick to your New Year’s resolutions.
Be honest with yourself
Being honest with yourself, setting realistic and achievable goals based around this is of importance when creating your New Year’s resolutions. Make sure that you stick to within your limitations and don’t overextend yourself as this can lead to disappointment.
Make SMART goals
When you set your goals, try the SMART method. This works around making your goals:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Relevant &
- Time-based
This will allow you to break your goals down into different steps, working out how you can achieve your objectives. Once you start your journey, from there you’ll be able to measure your success assessing it as time progresses.
Stick to one thing
Stick to one goal at a time, out of all of the New Year’s Resolutions that you’ve set for yourself work out which one is the most important to you. Trying to achieve more than one goal at once can become overwhelming, creating failure. Accomplishing one of your goals at a time, will boost your confidence giving you the enthusiasm to move onto your next goal.
Make yourself accountable
Find someone that you trust that you can check in with, who will help to keep you accountable. Share your resolutions with them, discussing your progress and pitfalls along the way. This will help to keep you motivated and on track.
