We always enjoy going to our favourite events, concerts or services, these often involve standing for long periods of time this can result in foot, leg and backpain. Here are some tips that will help you to minimise foot, leg and back pain.
When arriving at your destination choose a comfortable surface to stand on, if possible choose grass or a wooden or cushioned surface. Try to avoid hard surfaces that include concrete and ceramic tiles.
Wear shoes that fit your feet properly and aren’t too narrow or tight, thick socks or compression tights provide you with an extra layer of support. Wearing orthotics (insoles for your shoes) gives your foot arch support, cushioning external impact on your feet, decreasing foot, leg and back pain as well as foot and leg conditions.
To reduce the impact of standing for long periods of time, when you get home you can try this stretch. Stretch your calf muscles by leaning against a wall with one knee bent and the other leg straight out behind you, keeping both feet flat on the floor. Hold this for 30 seconds and repeat a couple of times.
